Senior Analyst - Transactions

Location: New Zealand
Role: Full time

EverEdge Transaction Services is a division of EverEdge Global. Providing support to the Head of Corporate Finance and Senior Manager, the Senior Analyst will be a key contributor to the direction, capability and performance of EverEdge Global’s Corporate Finance team by providing exceptional technical support and client engagement across all matters.

The role

The role requires a high level understanding and knowledge of business valuation and corporate finance, combined with exposure to deal execution across a range of transaction types. Specific analytical tasks will include: historical and pro forma client company financial analysis (including cash flow modelling); public company peer group market analysis; merger and acquisition market peer group analysis; discounted cash flow analysis; industry research; report writing; presentation preparation; marketing support activities; analysis and other such activities as deemed relevant to the Groups success.

This is a critical role that will provide support in various internal and external M&A and funding mandates. This role will also drive quantitative and qualitative analysis to assess the reasonableness of drivers and assumptions. Keeping abreast of market trends, competitive intelligence and market positioning to advise on potential opportunities and risks is a way of life for the ideal candidate.

Reporting to Senior Manager / Head of Corporate Finance, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Development of various types of financial models to value debt and equity for mergers, acquisitions, and capital raising transactions.
  • Perform various valuation methods – comparable companies, precedents, and DCF.
  • Develop collateral for product offerings, private equity transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and valuations.
  • Conduct preparation and review of materials used in the financing of clients, including investment memoranda, management presentations, and pitchbooks.
  • Develop relationships with new and existing clients in order to expand the business.
  • Perform due diligence, research, analysis, and documentation of live transactions.
  • Affinity for current events, critical issues, and relevant news.

Skills and experience

  • Relevant degree that meets current CAANZ /CPA requirements or equivalent
  • Professional qualification (e.g. tertiary degree)
  • CA/ CFA qualified or equivalent (desirable)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in financial modelling, analysis and valuations.
  • Deep knowledge of corporate finance theories and financial and cash flow modeling experience.
  • Post qualification experience in a corporate finance or investment banking environment of approx. 1 to 3 years.
  • Experience using excel modelling, PowerPoint, Capital IQ and Factset.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated analytical ability.

The role

The role is primarily focussed on providing high value advisory services to successful and high growth companies and research institutes with valuable technology or intellectual property. Successful candidates will work with clients to help them to commercialise this technology and intellectual property. Fundamentally, successful candidates will be instrumental in helping our clients convert ideas and knowledge into wealth.

Being a small firm with many clients, consultants are busy, working on-the-go on multiple projects to meet deadlines. Successful candidates will be involved on a day-to-day basis in writing business reports, analysing cases and active researching. The role involves substantial client-facing opportunities; especially in presenting engagement outcomes to clients and helping clients to implement recommendations. A key deliverable of the role will be to develop new business by identifying, presenting to and winning new clients.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with the consulting team to deliver projects.
  • Meeting with clients to discuss their companies and provide detailed reports / presentations on commercialisation and strategy options.
  • Managing and retaining existing client networks.
  • Identifying and introducing new clients to the business (critical aspect of role).
  • Giving presentations to large and small audiences on topics of business strategy/ commercialisation / intellectual property.
  • Achieving annual performance targets (to be set).
  • Travelling and working independently.

Skills and experience

  • 2 years consulting experience in professional services environment preferred.
  • Experience in business development in professional services (presenting to and winning new clients).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills (through proven projects).
  • Results-focused, entrepreneurial and outcome driven attitude.
  • Knowledge of / experience in technology / intellectual property commercialisation.
  • Strong networker, preferably with well developed business network.
  • Familiarity with / ability to rapidly understand different forms of technology.
  • Very strong analytical skills.

  • Exposure to intellectual property law with understanding of the patent process a bonus.

The Role

As our Office Administrator you will be responsible for supporting EverEdge’s global team across our offices in New Zealand, Singapore, Australia and the United States to deliver great outcomes for our clients. From supporting the Executive Leadership Team, to coordinating meetings, managing data, interacting with clients and managing logistics you will find the fast paced, extroverted environment of EverEdge highly rewarding.

Ideal Candidate

You will need to be a person who is superbly organised, systematic in your work, highly proactive, with the ability to manage your time effectively, along with excellent communication skills.

You’ll need to have drive, enthusiasm and excellent interpersonal skills. You will need to be a strong user of the Microsoft suite, be able to provide timely and accurate work and be able to manage multiple tasks at the same time while ensuring nothing gets past you. Finally you should have ability to always be one step ahead of what is required and have the confidence to make decisions and take ownership.

Location and Hours 

You’ll be working with a great team in a busy, varied and challenging role. The successful candidate should be able to start within the next four weeks.

This role will initially start as a part-time position of between 20-30 hours per week, based at our office Singapore. There is a high degree of flexibility in your hours and days. Depending on the workload and progression of the role, this may be developed into a full time position.
